A FORMER bakery in Street is set to be converted into a takeaway – open seven days a week.
The property, at 180 High Street, was formerly AJ Shepherd & Sons Bakery & Confectioners.
But now, plans have been submitted to Somerset Council to change the use of the premises to a takeaway – Pizza Junction.
“The internal areas are proposed to be renovated with new kitchen equipment and front of house area installed,” the application said. “The existing sign for the bakery is proposed to be updated with the new name/logo
of the takeaway business.
“In order to comply with the relevant ventilation requirements, the kitchen area requires an extract vent, ductwork and flue.”
AJ Shepherd & Sons closed for the final time in 2023, after 92 years of serving customers in Street.
The new takeaway has applied for permission to open between 4pm and 10pm, seven days a week.
