ANOTHER road closure is set to start in Bridgwater in the coming weeks – as roadworks continue on the Celebration Mile.
Church Street will be partially closed from Monday, June 2, also affecting the eastern area of Eastover.
The part-closure is to allow Somerset Council contractor Taylor Woodrow to install new kerb lines and resurface pavements, with the works set to be finished by the end of July.
A diversion route will be in use for residents of London Court, with entry access available through the end of the bus route on Watsons Way. The exit will remain available via Church Street.
Public footpaths will remain accessible, with more signs signalling businesses are open as usual.
Letters advising of the works have gone out to affected premises, including traders and residents, providing contact details for anyone concerned about the impact on deliveries and waste collections.

Councillor Mike Rigby, the council’s lead member for economic development, planning and assets, said: “We recognise that the partial closure may cause some inconvenience but it’s essential to make sure we can complete this major investment in Bridgwater.
“We will make sure that pedestrians and shoppers, businesses and residents, will continue to have access throughout. We will also be installing extra signs to make people aware that Church Street remains open for business.”
People can find out more about the Celebration Mile in Bridgwater at a drop-in session, set to be held between 4pm and 7pm on June 12, at Bridgwater Community Hall, Eastover.
Representatives from Somerset Council and Taylor Woodrow will be on hand to answer questions.
The Celebration Mile is one of 11 projects that are part of the Bridgwater Town Deal, which received £23.2million of government investment to improve the town centre.
