Landmark Somerset village pub on the market – for £475,000

A LANDMARK listed Somerset pub has gone up for sale.

The King Alfred Inn, at Burrowbridge, sits in the shadow of Burrow Mump on the A361 and dates back to the 17th century.

Popular with walkers, cyclists, bird watchers and locals alike, the pub is on the banks of the River Parrett on the Levels.

It’s name comes from Burrowbridge’s historic links with King Alfred the Great.

Neighbouring Burrow Mump, a scheduled monument with Grade II-listed church remains on top, overlooks Southlake Moor.

“The village lies at the halfway point between the county town of Taunton and Street,” said agent Sidney Phillips. “In turn, this leads to plenty of passing trade.

The King Alfred is itself Grade II listed and is detailed as “a two-storey detached property with rendered elevations under a pitched tile roof”.
