A NEW sponsor proved lucky for Burnham rugby players in their top-of-the-table clash against Clevedon.
Burnham-on-Sea Rugby Club claimed a 28-7 win over their Somerset rivals – the first game where they had sported training tops sponsored by resort firm, Unity Holidays.
The match was Burnham’s ninth consecutive win, and they sit top of the league with a one-point lead.
In poor conditions, Burnham’s Jamie Whitehouse was man of the match kicking 13 points, while tries came from skipper Ryan Beard, Jude Donnelly and Ethan James.
It came after Unity Holidays recently announced a two-year sponsorship deal with the club.
The family-run holiday company has three parks across the UK, and their Unity Beach resort in Brean is just a few miles from the rugby club’s BASC ground, in Stoddens Road.
Unity Holidays is now on show at the ground as well on all team kit, including two senior teams, a colts team and a thriving junior and minis section.
Jonny Green, resort director at Unity Beach, said: “Burnham-on-Sea Rugby Club sits at the heart of the local community, bringing together players, families and supporters of all ages.
“The resort has a long-standing relationship with the club, with many of our own team members, past and present, playing for them or volunteering there.
“We’re thrilled to be backing the club’s ambitions on and off the field.”
