SIGNS at a new Greggs drive-thru near Highbridge could be installed soon.
The budget bakery has submitted a planning application to Somerset Council for the outlet, at the entrance to the Oak Tree Business Park site, off Bristol Road.
It seeks permission for a total of six internally-illuminated signs, two totem signs, a non-illuminated order point box, two non-illuminated waiting bay signs, a non-illuminated ‘thank you’ sign, four external digital menu screens and a non-illuminated height restriction sign.
It comes after Greggs – and fellow fast-food outlet McDonald’s – were given permission to open on the site.
Greggs drive-thru outlets are billed as offering diners the chance to “stay in the comfort of your own car and make your order at our snazzy order point”.
“You heard us right, our drive-thru shops have been popping up around the country for the past few years and there’s no sign of us putting the brakes on any time soon,” a spokesperson for the chain added.
