DRIVERS between Somerset and London may have done a double take as they passed a trailer carrying a GIANT willow basket!
The creation was heading to the capital after being made by experts at Coates English Willow, in Stoke St Gregory.
It is set to be installed outside a London store – but the makers don’t know which, and have called on anyone who spots it to let them know, and send pictures.
“I bet this load turned a few heads as it travelled back up the M5 and M4 on its way to its final destination in central London,” a Coates spokesperson said.
“It is due to be installed outside a shop, but we are not exactly sure which one, so if you see it, please take a photo and share it with us.”
Coates English Willow – aka PH Coate & Son – is based at the Willows and Wetlands Visitor Centre. The company was founded by willow grower and merchant Robert Coate in 1819, and is still run by the Coate family.
And fans of the firm reacted with shock and delight at its latest creation.
“How much would that cost to fill for a picnic?,” asked one on social media, while another added: “Wow, that’s a monster. Well done.”
