Four new names at Clarks Village boost summer shopping in Somerset

SPORTSWEAR specialist Pro:Direct, fashion retailer House of Tweed, and The Gift Company are the latest brands to open new stores at Clarks Village.

They join childrenswear brand Hatley to unveil new premises or pop-ups in August.

Originally founded in Quebec, the Hatley Boutique is the brand’s third store in the UK and its first in the South West.

Best known for its hand-illustrated prints for babies, children, and women, Hatley offers organic cotton pyjamas, hard-wearing colour-changing rainwear, and sun-protective swimwear.

Global sports retailer Pro:Direct Sports Outlet became the world’s largest online football retailer before expanding into other major sports categories including rugby, tennis, cricket and basketball.

The 2,337sq ft Clarks Village store is Pro:Direct’s third in the UK and the chain’s first outlet store.

Samuel Baldock, CBO at Pro:Direct Sport, said: “Although we’re a global sports retailer, we’re proud of our local roots in the South West, where our global HQ is still based.

“Opening at Clarks Village allows us to work closely with our local counties and create more regional jobs, while offering the local community the very best in sport and lifestyle at unbeatable value.”

House of Tweed and The Gift Company have launched pop-up shops at the Street shopping centre.

Creating handbags and accessories using bespoke designed tweed fabrics, House of Tweed returns to Clarks Village in a 721 sq ft store, while the family-run Gift Company shop offers a selection of giftware ranging from jewellery and candles to wine bottle holders and furniture.

Chris Davis, centre director at Clarks Village, said: ““Summer this year has been sizzling at Clarks Village – and we’re not just talking about the weather.

“There is so much happening, from new brands and store upgrades to summer fun with Art & Putt mini golf and free bug-house-making sessions for children, not to mention our stunning landscaped gardens which are looking their very best at this time of year.

“All of this, plus superb shopping with outlet discounts, is certainly making Clarks Village a hot place to visit this summer.”
