PLANS for a new Caribbean and African food store in Taunton have been submitted.
Mark Caines Ltd has applied to Somerset Council for permission to change the use of 49 Station Road from a tanning salon to the shop.
“Externally, the property would be largely unchanged, except for alterations to signage,” the application said.
“The purpose of the application is to enable a Caribbean and African food store to be located in Taunton. At the moment there are two tanning salons on Station Road, with another nearby in Bridge Street, Taunton.”
Other than the signs and “minor internal alterations”, no changes to the building are planned, it added.
“The proposal is to provide the high street with a Caribbean and African food store,” the plans concluded.
Previously, the shop was home to the LA Spray tanning salon.
