Bridgwater-based drainage firm gets the nod for a host of awards

A SOMERSET drainage firm is hoping to clean up after being shortlisted for a host of prestigious awards.

Bridgwater-based West Country Drainage Services Ltd has been picked as a finalist in two categories at the National Drainage Awards – in the Small Contractor of the Year and Sustainability Champion of the Year categories.

Winners are set to be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at Charlton Football Club, London, presented by Jim Davidson.

“Both categories reflect our mission to provide first-class service and restore trust in the trade,” a company spokesperson said.

“We are particularly renowned for our environmental work, including replacing septic tanks with more eco-friendly sewage treatment plants and installing eco friendly reed beds. We are also actively working towards our net-zero goals, with regular reporting on our progress.”

Meanwhile, the firm has also been recognised with two finalist places at the West Country Women Awards.

Shortlisted nominees were revealed at Powderham Castle, with the High Sheriff of Devon attending as a special guest.

Former ITV presenter Alexis Bowater led the ceremony and announced finalists picked from more than 2,060 entries – including Leanne Jeanes, from West Country Drainage Services Ltd, in the Woman in Property and Construction Award, and Green Business of the Year categories.

“We look forward to celebrating with many inspiring women at the Gala, which will be held in Plymouth at the end of next month,” the firm added.

“With only two days between the two ceremonies, we are anticipating a week of celebrations and supporting our fellow finalists in their achievements.

“As a small, family-run business, these achievements are a huge testimony to our company and what we offer our clients.”
