GHOST hunters in Somerset can rejoice as Shepton Mallet Prison, renowned as one of the most haunted in the world, is letting the public in after dark to try and catch a glimpse of the paranormal.
The 400-year-old prison is opening its doors to the public in February 2025 so they can embark on a spine-chilling evening of ghost hunting behind bars.
Brave visitors will join the prison’s seasoned paranormal team, who will guide them through the prison’s most haunted areas—including The Gate Lodge, B-Wing, A-Wing and the Execution Room.
Paranormal teams from across the UK have previously visited the prison to conduct investigations and that opportunity will soon be available to the wider public.
“Each area is steeped in history and brimming with eerie secrets, waiting to be uncovered,” a spokesperson said.
“As the clock strikes midnight, seize the rare opportunity to explore the entire prison at your own pace—in total darkness, with only the spirits to keep you company.
“What chilling discoveries will you make in the dead of night?”
