Free dance performances – with a secret twist – in Bridgwater tonight

SECRET dance performances by a cast of young people will take place in Bridgwater tonight (September 19).

The town will become the stage for a “bold and thought-provoking new dance performance” by dance company Stacked Wonky’s Are You Coming to the Meeting?.

A spokesperson for the production described it as “a powerful, immersive event led entirely by young performers”.

It features a cast of seven people, aged 15 and up, and is a response to “the global clamour for power in 2025”.

“Audiences are invited to witness a raw, physical broadcast without walls – and to let the next generation take the lead,” a spokesperson said.

“But there’s a twist. Audiences must arrive at Angel Crescent at 6pm or 8pm, where they’ll be guided to a secret location for the performance – adding an extra layer of anticipation and intrigue to this one-of-a-kind event.”

Commissioned by five of the UK’s leading arts organisations – Greenwich & Docklands International Festival, Fabric, Landmark Theatres, Sadler’s Wells, and Strike A Light – the production marks a major moment for Stacked Wonky, who have long championed young people.

It is also supported by the Bridgwater Town Deal, as part of its ambitious programme of arts and cultural activity for the town.

Jeremy James, from the Bridgwater Town Deal, said: “This is exactly the kind of exciting, high-quality performance we want to bring to Bridgwater. It puts young people centre stage and gives our community something fresh, challenging, and memorable to experience. We’re proud to support it.”

Are You Coming to the Meeting? is free to attend and open to all and for more details, visit www.bridgwaterhereandnow.com/events.
