Acclaimed TV historian David Olusoga set for Somerset appearance

HISTORIAN David Olusoga will be in Somerset for a special talk and book signing in September.

The acclaimed author and broadcaster, known for shows such as A House Through Time and Empire, will be at the Cheese and Grain in Frome on September 4.

“Renowned for his insightful contributions to public understanding of history, particularly regarding the British Empire, slavery, and Black British history, David’s work challenges conventional narratives,” a spokesperson said.

“In this exclusive theatre event, David will discuss his transition from academic research to mainstream media, the power of storytelling in both factual programming and theatrical narrative, and how history continues to shape our present cultural landscape.

“This is an essential evening for anyone interested in a more inclusive, expansive, and vital view of our shared history.

“A Q&A and book signing, hosted by Hunting Raven Books, will follow the presentation, offering a chance to meet one of the UK’s foremost public historians.”

Tickets for the talk, costing £31.50/£27 plus a standard service charge, are available via cheeseandgrain.com/events/david-olusoga.
