A HEADS and tails contest landed a Bridgwater group with a £250 donation at a gathering in Swindon.
Mayor of Bridgwater, Cllr Kathy Pearce, and mayoress Sue Young, along with councillors Jacqui Solomon and Gill Slocombe represented the Somerset town at the Showman’s Guild Annual Luncheon in Wiltshire.
The event brings together representatives from across the south west to celebrate the region’s fairs and maintain strong links with the Guild, which organises the Bridgwater Fair each September.
And a highlight of the afternoon saw Cllr Jacqui Solomon make it to the final two in the after‑dinner Heads and Tails fundraiser, winning half of the £500 prize pot.

The Showman’s Guild will be donating £250 to Bridgwater Men’s Shed, the mayor’s chosen charity for the year.
The historic Bridgwater Fair, dating back to 1249, remains a major part of the town’s cultural and social life, attracting around 40,000 visitors annually.
Mayor, Cllr Pearce, said: “Like many local people, I remember going to the Fair as a child and taking my own children there. It often marks important milestones in people’s lives.
“It’s important that we cherish our links with the Showman’s Guild, and we look forward to many more years of collaboration with the town council to bring together one of the greatest events in the south west calendar.”
