PEOPLE are being urged to find out more about their own health during an event in Crewkerne on Saturday (February 28).
From 10am to 3pm, the Henhayes Centre will be the venue for a free health and wellbeing day, hosted by the South Somerset West Primary Care Network (PCN) and Symphony Healthcare Services.
Organisers said the day is designed to “help people learn more about their health, discover local support services, and try out wellbeing activities in a relaxed, friendly setting”.
Simon White, operations and transformation manager at the South Somerset West Primary Care Network, said: “We’re really excited to host this health and wellbeing day, and we’d love to see as many local people as possible come along.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet our teams, try new activities, and get helpful health advice in a really welcoming, informal environment.”

The health and wellbeing event in Crewkerne will feature several themed zones:
· Health and Care Zone: Meet PCN and hospital teams, plus join short talks including falls prevention and the new Pharmacy First service.
· Wellbeing and Activity Zone: Taster sessions such as yoga, breathwork and meditation, alongside mental health and wellbeing organisations.
· Lifestyle and Prevention Zone: Free health checks including blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol and blood sugar levels, plus advice on healthy living, smoking and alcohol.
· Kids’ Activity Area: Family‑friendly craft sessions and planting activities.
· Community Connections Zone: Voluntary, community and faith groups will be on hand to share their work and connect with residents.
· Café Corner: Free refreshments sponsored by county businesses, alongside the PCN’s “Loneliness Doesn’t Have to Be Part of Ageing” campaign, and a community “What Matters to Me” postcard project.
Simon said the aim is to bring services, support and information directly to residents.
“So many brilliant services exist in Crewkerne and across Somerset, but people don’t always know what’s available or how to access it,” he said.
“This event is about breaking down those barriers, bringing everything together under one roof, in a really accessible way.
“Whether you want a free health check, to learn more about ageing well, to chat with local organisations, or you simply fancy a cup of tea and a sit down, there really is something for everyone.”
He added: “Events like this are so important because they help people feel connected. You can come on your own, with family, with a friend, and however you come, you’ll be warmly welcomed.”
