Somerset dentist washroom handed ‘diamond’ status at Loo of the Year Awards

A SOMERSET dental practice is feeling flushed with success after being awarded ‘diamond’ status – for the state of its loos.

TRUSTDental, in Street, was recognised in the prestigious Loo of the Year Awards 2025, earning the highly-rated accolade for its washroom facilities – which puts it in the top 4% of thousands of toilets inspected across the UK.

The 2025 success came after TRUSTDental was awarded the Best Loo in the Healthcare Sector (UK) accolade, named Runner-Up for Washroom Technician of the Year (England), and handed the prestigious Chairman’s Trophy, recognising one of the very best loos in the UK.

For more than 35 years, Loo of the Year inspectors have travelled the UK assessing ‘away from home’ washrooms against 101 judging criteria, including accessibility, fixtures, hygiene, and
overall user experience.

Grades range from Bronze to Diamond, with TRUSTDental securing Diamond, the highest grade possible.

As part of the 2025 achievement, TRUSTDental was invited to the Loo of the Year Awards ceremony earlier this month.

Dr James Main, lead dentist, owner, and principal of TRUSTDental, said: “We’re over the moon to receive Diamond status again this year. Roll on January, and here’s hoping we bring home another trophy for our loo.

“The dental practice loo is one of the most important rooms in a practice. It is often the first place patients go, and for those who feel anxious about visiting the dentist, it’s the one space where they can catch their breath and feel more at ease.

“Sadly, while practices invest heavily in surgeries and waiting rooms, the loo is often overlooked. By winning the National Loo of the Year Award, we hope to raise awareness of how important this space is in helping patients feel comfortable and less anxious.”
