A PERSON died in a crash – which was only discovered more than 12 hours later.

The incident, on the A361 Main Road at West Lyng, is understood to have occurred at around 9.30pm on Saturday night (January 17).

However, emergency services were only alerted to the incident – involving a red Fiat 500 and a parked car – at around 10.30am on Sunday morning.

“Tragically, the sole occupant of the Fiat died at the scene. While formal identification has yet to take place, their next of kin have been traced and will be supported,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.

The road was closed on Sunday for an examination of the scene and vehicle recovery.
