AN INDEPENDENT Somerset school has appointed a new headteacher.
Perrott Hill School has confirmed Will Silk – previously deputy head for 15 years – will take on the role from April after the resignation of current leader, Alex McCullough, who is set to become headteacher at Orwell Park School, in Suffolk.
Welcoming Mr Silk, a school spokesperson said: “He is an exceptional leader, with a proven track record of nurturing character and creating an environment in which pupils positively thrive.
“His experience, energy, and vision align seamlessly with the values and aspirations of the school.
“He replaces Mr McCullough who has led the school for the last eight years with dedication and a deep commitment to the pupils in his care.”
The move comes as Perrott Hill enters a “pivotal moment”, the spokesperson said, following the announcement of a series of proposed changes and developments after the school became part of the Perrott Hill Education Group.

“They have recently committed to an ambitious five-year investment and development plan, so this is a very exciting moment in the history of the school as they look to further strengthen facilities, opportunities for pupils and educational outcomes,” the spokesperson said.
“Mr Silk’s tenure as Headmaster will play a central role in shaping and leading this next phase with ambition, clarity and purpose,” they added.

“To be part of Perrott Hill is to be part of something special. I am proud of the school’s distinguished history, traditions, values and ethos, and look forward to building on this tremendous legacy.”
Robert Charles Ford, chair of governors for Perrott Hill, added: “Mr Silk is dedicated and caring and we feel immensely positive about the future under his leadership.”
Speaking about his new role in Suffolk, Mr McCullough said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed to lead such a wonderful school as Orwell Park at this exciting period in its history.”
