Landmark Yeovil restaurant to close today – but opening new venue next door

A POPULAR Yeovil restaurant will close in the new year – before the people behind it open a new venture right next door.

Tamburino Yeovil has been serving Italian cuisine to customers in the town for two decades, but is set to close the kitchen after a special new year’s event tonight (December 31).

However, early in 2026, the people behind Tamburino are opening a new eatery – Atrium – in premises neighbouring their current home.

Atrium is described as “an exciting new Italian kitchen and bar”, with bosses saying the new venue would feature a “theatre-style open kitchen with chef’s table dining”, state-of-the-art facilities over tow floors, and a “stylish new bar” offering signature cocktails and more.

Announcing the changes, a spokesperson for the restaurant said: “Thank you for being part of our journey. We look forward to welcoming you into what’s next.”

“Tamburino has been more than just a restaurant – it’s been a place for families, friends, celebrations, community, and incredible food. A true Yeovil icon,” they added.

“Here’s to the memories, achievements and unforgettable Italian hospitality.”
