A WOMAN was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving as part of a festive crackdown on motoring offences in Somerset.
Officers from Avon & Somerset Police’s South Sedgemoor carried out 60 vehicle stops on Sunday (December 21) as part of the annual anti-drink and drug driving campaign.
A police spokesperson said one speeding ticket was issued, four traffic offences were identified and drivers reported, including driving on a provisional licence, with two vehicles seized.
“Meanwhile, the North Sedgemoor Team arrested a 40-year-old female in Burnham-on-Sea on suspicion of drug driving,” they added.
“She has been released under investigation while we wait for the results.”

On Saturday night (December 20), in Taunton, officers were stopping vehicles in Park Street, Castle Street, Lisieux Way, and Priorswood Road.
A police spokesperson confirmed 42 vehicles and one e-scooter stopped. No drivers were over the drink or drug limit, with one vehicle seized as the driver had a revoked licence.
