DELIVERY drivers are struggling this Christmas – leading to a raft of stories about lost parcels, or packages being delivered to the wrong address, and more.
Now, a Somerset MP has written to the chief executive of a leading parcel company over constituents’ complaints of “service failures”.
Sarah Dyke (Lib Dem, Glastonbury & Somerton) has written to Martijn de Lange, the boss of parcel firm Evri, demanding answers over delivery “failures” – and how things can improve.
“Many have told me that they struggle to identify the location of their parcels from a photo that is not their front door,” she said.
“With the Christmas season upon us, I fully appreciate the additional pressures placed upon your operations. However, my constituents … your customers, rely on the safe and secure delivery of their parcels.
“Having paid for the service, it is reasonable that they experience reliable and accurate service as a minimum expectation.”
Evri, which delivers around four million parcels each day during busy periods, said it was working hard to ensure parcels are delivered correctly and on time.

She also requested Mr de Lange and Evri “urgently investigates” concerns raised, and confirm what “changes you intend to make going forward to prevent continued service failures”.
Addressing the letter, the MP added: “While no doubt there are dedicated, hard-working Evri delivery drivers who are going to great lengths to make sure customers are receiving their parcels safely and on time, the number of mis-deliveries reported lately is simply unacceptable.
“This appears to be a nationwide problem this year. I urge the company’s leadership to review their processes and ensure that customers receive the service they deserve.”
The MP’s letter comes ahead of a BBC Panorama investigation entitled EVRi: Where’s my Parcel?, which looks into the pressure put on drivers to hit targets in order to make money, which is on BBC One tonight (December 15) at 8pm.
An Evri spokesperson said: “Our 30,000 couriers are working hard to deliver around four million parcels a day in our busiest weeks of the year.
“We recognise how special every parcel is, and we’re doing everything we can to ensure that customers in Glastonbury and Somerton receive their parcels.”

My evri parcel got left outside some one else’s house and evri sent a photo which obviously was not my property, I phoned the company I’d ordered from , they gave me the number house it had gone to , I went to the house and the lady said thats the second one on the same night parcels had gone missing, waiting now on a reply , this is disgusting and where have the parcels gone 🤷♀️
We ordered a king size bed which never arrived. They told us they couldn’t find our address so had returned it to the depot and then it couldn’t be found. We were told to take it up with Debenhams, the company we ordered it from. Evri just didn’t seem to care at all about the situation. I mean, how can you lose a King Size bed? It took us a couple of months to get our money back from Debenhams.
