Yeovil Probus Club hands over £620 charity donation after year’s fundraising

TWO new members were admitted to the Probus Club of Yeovil at its recent AGM.

The group gathered at the Quicksilver Mail on November 10, with the existing Committee re-elected – but with the addition of two new members.

Chair, David Parsons, highlighted the successful year they had with excellent guest speakers and interesting visits.

Although Probus is a club for retired professional and business people they also hold a number of events throughout the year when wives and partners are invited.

At every lunch they have a charity collection and this year it was donated to Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Sarah Armstrong, from the charity, was present to receive a donation of £620. After thanking the members, she gave a brief outline on how the organisation helped people and their families cope with this serious neurological disease.

“Next year, Yeovil Probus has already got a full programme of speakers and are looking forward to another exciting year,” a spokesperson said.

The group meets once a month at the Quicksilver Mail, Hendford Hill, to listen to a guest speaker followed by lunch, in “a very friendly atmosphere for like-minded retired gentlemen”.

The first meeting of 2026 is on January 12 at the Quicksilver Mail, starting at 11am. Details are available online at https://yeovilprobus.com.
