Drugs found after car fled police during routine stop in Glastonbury

DRUGS were found in a car driven by an uninsured person which made off during a routine traffic stop in Glastonbury.

The incident, last week, began when PC James Higgins and PCSO Nik Burge stopped a vehicle in the town.

An Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said the vehicle made off during the stop, by was soon located and stopped again.

“Upon recovery, officers discovered the driver had no insurance, and a quantity of Class A and Class B drugs were found in and around the vehicle,” they said.

“Driving without insurance is not only illegal – it can lead to your vehicle being seized on the spot, hefty fines, and prosecution. It puts everyone at risk.”

They added the vehicle was seized and drugs recovered as further investigations continue.

“We will continue to take action against those who endanger our roads and communities,” the spokesperson added. “Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep our streets safe.”
