Taunton and Wellington Lib Dems celebrate “formidable and effective” year

LIBERAL Democrats in Taunton and Wellington celebrated a “formidable and effective” year for the party.

More than 130 party members gathered for its annual meeting on Friday (November 14), held at Taunton Rguby Club.

John Wakefield, chair, told the meeting work to promote the Liberal Democrat message was more important than ever.

He spoke of highlights during the past 12 months, including the opening of permanent offices in Taunton’s Tower Lane, shared with MP Gideon Amos, as well as by-election victories on Somerset Council, Taunton Town Council and Wellington Town Council.

“These results indicate that we are on a bit of a roll but we definitely can’t be complacent,” said Mr Wakefield.
