Person freed from car after crash into water-filled ditch

A PERSON was freed from a vehicle that crashed into a water-filled ditch in West Somerset.

Emergency services were sent to the scene, near West Bagborough and Crowcombe, at around 3.30pm on Halloween (October 31).

Fire crews from Taunton, Bridgwater and Wellington attended after a request from the ambulance service.

“Two Fire engines, a heavy rescue unit and water safety team were all sent,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“On arrival, crews confirmed this vehicle had left the roadway and gone into a stream, with one person still inside the vehicle.

“Crews used cutting gear to release one casualty. There were three other casualties who were all seen by on-scene paramedics.

“The incident was left in the hands of the police and ambulance.”
