PEOPLE in the Ilminster area are being advised not to be alarmed if they see a “large number of emergency and military vehicles” tomorrow morning.

From 8am on Wednesday (October 15), a multi-agency exercise will be taking place to test the response to an “aircraft incident”.

Avon & Somerset Police said the exercise will be strictly controlled within the RNAS Merryfield site.

“However, residents of Ilton and nearby areas may notice a large number of emergency and military vehicles passing through,” a spokesperson added.

“Please be assured this is not in response to a live incident, but purely an exercise to test agencies’ plans as to how they would respond in the event of a major incident.”
