Royal Mail van ends up on side after Somerton crash

A ROYAL Mail van ended up on its side after a crash at Somerton.

The incident occurred at just after 7pm on Sunday night (October 5), with fire crews from Somerton and Martock sent to the scene, along with paramedics.

“Fire Control received an emergency call from South Western Ambulance Service requesting fire assistance with a road traffic collision in Somerton,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“Crews from Somerton and Martock was mobilised alongside an officer.

“This was a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a Royal Mail van which had landed on it’s side.

“Crews got to work to release the driver by removing the windscreen and assisted the driver out and got to work making the vehicle safe.”

They added the driver had sustained “minor injuries but was then in the care of paramedics on scene” at around 9.20pm.
