Theo, nine, is picking up litter to help the planet!

A NATURE-LOVING youngster is doing his bit for the planet – and raising money for a good cause.

Theo, from Wiveliscombe, has taken on a sponsored litter pick, pledging to collect a bag of rubbish from around the town each day for 100 days.

The intrepid nine-year-old is raising money for Surfers Against Sewage, as he is passionate about the natural world.

“I love wildlife and the ocean and everything wild in between,” he said. “I wanted to do something to help our rural community, our wild spaces and the oceans and I think I can make a difference.

“My challenge is to collect one bag of rubbish from around our cool town Wiveliscombe every day, for 100 days. If I can’t find enough litter here my mum has agreed to drive me to our next village.”

He said he was raising money for Surfers Against Sewage “because they are working hard to keep our oceans and rivers clean and that mission is important to me”.

“If you think my challenge is cool, please sponsor me a couple of pounds,” he added.

“I’m going to try and raise as much as I can and will definitely be picking up a lot of litter in Wivey.”
