Deadline approaching as Crewkerne site for 325 homes, parking and more up for sale

A DEADLINE for offers to buy a piece of land earmarked for 325 new homes, a mobility hub and train station parking in Crewkerne is nearing.

The site, off Station Road, extends to 16.61 hectares (41.04 acres) and is less than a mile from the town centre and sits opposite the train station. It is being marketed by Greenslade Taylor Hunt (GTH).

“An application for 325 dwellings will be expected to deliver approximately 114 affordable dwellings and numerous education streams,” said GTH partner, Mark Chugg.

The proposed development of the site would be accessed by a new roundabout from Station Road to the south east of the plot, with a secondary access proposed further north on Station Road.

The proposals have been the subject of pre-application discussions with South Somerset District Council and more recently Somerset Council.

Both authorities agreed the plans were acceptable in principle.

An outline planning application was submitted to Somerset Council on September 4, with all matters reserved, except for access. A decision is awaited.

Now GTH are offering the site for sale by informal tender, conditional on the grant of outline planning permission.

The deadline for the submission of offers is noon on Friday, October 24.
