Social media comments lead to more vehicles being seized from Somerset streets

SOCIAL media comments once again led to vehicles being seized from Somerset streets.

Police picked up two cars in South Somerset following a recent post about vehicles which had been seized due to a lack of valid tax, insurance or MOT.

“Following helpful comments on our last post about some vehicles seized in Yeovil, we attended a location where a vehicle was reported to be untaxed,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said.

“Upon arrival, we confirmed that the vehicle had no valid tax and it was seized on the spot.

“While dealing with that vehicle, we also came across another that had been declared SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) — but it was parked on a public road.

“This is also not allowed.”

They reminded vehicles owners:
If a vehicle is declared SORN:
It must be kept on private land (e.g. a driveway or garage)
It cannot be parked or used on a public road, even if it’s not being driven.

“Thank you to everyone who continues to report concerns — your information helps us take action and keep our roads legal and safe,” the spokesperson added.
