Former Somerset village library is up for sale – for around £150,000

A FORMER Somerset library building is up for sale – with an asking price of around £150,000.

Williton Library, in Killick Way, closed in June, ahead of a move to the former West Somerset Council offices.

Now, the building which housed the books is up for sale – and people are being urged to submit offers before noon on October 24.

It is being marketed by Greenslade Taylor Hunt (GTH), who said the property “could be re-purposed for a range of commercial or residential uses”.

“The vacant site, which extends to around 0.03 hectares (0.08 acres) could, subject to planning, offer commercial or residential alternatives,” the firm said.

“It is among a number of buildings being sold off by Somerset Council as surplus to requirements.”

A modern, detached, single-storey building, the former library features an open-plan lending library area, office, staff room, kitchenette, disabled WC and storage areas. Outside is a small gated parking area and a bin storage space.
