Somerset mural – a tribute to British forces – vandalised

A SOMERSET mural depicting a Royal Marine has been defaced with paint.

The tribute, in Chapel Street, Burnham-on-Sea, is understood to have been vandalised at around 6pm on Tuesday evening (August 5).

It features a soldier squatting, looking towards the viewer, with a Union Flag above and the words “Queen and country”.

The painting sits on a wall beside The Boss Lounge venue in Burnham and an apparent CCTV image of the offender is circulating on social media, but has not been verified by your Leveller.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
