AN OUTBUILDING at a property in Watchet was completely destroyed after a tumble dryer caught fire.
Three fire engines, from Minehead and Williton, were sent to the incident after reports of a blaze at around 1.26am this morning (July 31).
“Upon arrival crews confirmed that there was a tumble dryer well alight in an outbuilding, which was adjacent to the kitchen,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.
The blaze was brought under control and crews left the scene later in the morning having used six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one safety jet, two thermal image cameras, one triple extension ladder and one positive pressure ventilation fan.
The spokesperson said the property was “100% damaged by fire, 75% damaged by smoke and 10% water damaged”.
“The cause is believed to be accidental,” they added.
