Frome representative stands down after 11 years – after moving out of town

FROME councillor Mel Usher is standing down after more than a decade – saying moving four miles away has made it “increasingly difficult” to keep up.

Cllr Usher, who has represented the Market ward on Frome Town Council since 2011, said he made the decision after feeling he had been leaving issues to his fellow ward member to handle.

“Having moved from the town – admittedly only 3/4 miles away – I have found it increasingly difficult to keep up with what is happening,” Cllr Usher said.

“Market ward generates a lot of issues, and it is unfair on the other ward councillor, Mark Dorrington, to leave him to sort most of these out.

“It has been a privilege and time for someone else to pick up the baton.”
