A SOMERSET home named among the top 10 ‘most perfect houses of all periods in Britain’ is up for sale.

Maperton House, near Wincanton, is on the market with agent Blue Book – with an asking price of £9.5 million.

The landmark 10-bed, 10-reception property is described as “magical” by the agent, with grounds featuring a “sculptured sea of mature topiary” and a swimming pool with poolhouse.

“Built as a regency hunting box in local ham stone, Maperton House was one of Marcus Binney’s “top 10 most perfect houses of all periods in Britain” (The Times, September 7, 2007),” the listing said.
