AN unauthorised encampment has arrived at Hamilton Park in Taunton – just days after steps to prevent people accessing public spaces were announced.
Taunton Town Council said it had notified police and requested notice is served on those on the site.
“We are aware of the unauthorised encampment in Hamilton Park; the police have been notified and a request made to serve notice,” a council spokesperson said.
“We appreciate that this is becoming an incredibly regular occurrence and that many of our residents are feeling frustrated, as is the council.

“We do have plans in place, but of course, many of these measures are not off the shelf solutions and will take time to manufacture and install. We aim for all the upgrades to security features to be installed by the end of August.
“Meanwhile, we urge residents to ensure that any contractors they employ can show evidence of the appropriate licences.”
The council previously announced it had ordered a number of bollards, height restrictions and other steps to prevent unauthorised groups accessing public open spaces in Taunton.
