TEMPERTURES look set to hit 30C in Somerset this week – as the UK endures another heatwave.

The Met Office is forecasting temperatures of 30C on Friday (July 11), and 31C on Saturday, as the county looks set to bathe in glorious sunshine this weekend.

Mercury will start to rise on Thursday, the Met Office said, when temperatures are set to hit 28C, before another rise as the weekend approaches.

Between Friday and Saturday, the Met Office forecast “strong sunshine by day and clear skies overnight”.

“Becoming very warm through the period with some uncomfortable nights for sleeping by the weekend,” the forecaster added.

However, looking more long range, the forecaster warned of potential thunderstorms early next week as the hot weather breaks.
