Boost to bus service between Yeovil and Bridport

A BUS service connecting Somerset with Dorset will operate six days a week from the end of this month.

From May 31, the CR6 service – between Bridport, Beaminster and Yeovil – will run every day apart from Sunday, following the non-school weekday timetable.

The boost to the service – which currently only operates during the week – comes thanks to funding from the government.

Meanwhile, the 5.10pm service from Bridport, which previously terminated at Beaminster, will now continue to Yeovil – a move partly funded by Somerset Council.

The changes are aimed at giving residents the chance to spend the day in Bridport or Yeovil and return conveniently, improving access to shopping, leisure, and essential services.

Cllr Derek Beer, chair of the Dorset Council Bus User Group, said: “Reliable and accessible transport is vital for our communities, and I am delighted to see the CR6 service extended to six days a week.

“This enhancement will provide residents with greater flexibility, whether for work, leisure, or essential travel.

“Dorset Council remains committed to improving transport connectivity, ensuring that rural areas are well-served and linked to key destinations.”
