MORE than 80 motoring offences were detected by police who attended a ‘cruise’ meeting at a Somerset beauty spot to “disrupt anti-social vehicle use”.
On Sunday (April 27), officers were around Cheddar Gorge, where car fans regularly meet.
An Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson said it was part of a regular operation – with around 50 vehicles dispersed from the gorge and various offences detected.
The spokesperson said:
- 26 offences were detected on the A371 Upper New Road at Cheddar in one hour
- 39 offences on the A371 Draycott Road in Cheddar in an hour
- And 17 offences in 40 mins at Cliff Road.
“The Cliff Road site has been now retrospectively authorised for the unmarked police van so offences will be processed,” the spokesperson added.
