TRICIA O’Brien has been elected to Chard Town Council after winning a by-election by ONE VOTE.
Lib Dem candidate Tricia held off independent candidate Gary Molloy, securing 178 votes to his 177 in the poll, selecting a representative for the Crimchard ward.
Green Party candidate Lynsey Arscott came third, with 106 votes.
The full result in the Crimchard by-election for Chard Town Council was:
• Liberal Democrats – 178
• Independent – 177
• Green – 106
Newly-elected councillor Tricia said: “I’m incredibly honoured to have been elected to serve the residents of Crimchard.

“It was a close race, and I want to thank every resident who put their trust in me.
“I’ll work tirelessly to represent our community and to ensure Chard gets the attention and action it deserves.
“I’m looking forward to working with fellow councillors, from all parties, to deliver for our town.”
MP Adam Dance (Lib Dem, Yeovil), who has worked closely with Tricia in the past, said: “I’m thrilled to see Tricia elected to Chard Town Council. I had the pleasure of working with her on South Somerset District Council, and know first-hand how committed, knowledgeable and passionate she is about serving her community.
“She brings valuable experience and a strong voice to the council, and I know she’ll do a brilliant job for the people of Crimchard and Chard as a whole.”
