A NEW app has been launched aimed at making it easier for people in North Somerset to recycle.
The free app, from North Somerset Council, includes a range of helpful features for households, including bin day reminders, real-time service alerts of changes to recycling and waste collections, and a comprehensive search tool to check how to recycle items correctly.
It also has links to find councillors, discover nearby council-run facilities such as recycling centres, view food hygiene ratings and more.

Councillor Annemieke Waite, NSC’s executive member for climate, waste and sustainability, said: “We want to make North Somerset a thriving and sustainable place to live, work and visit. Our new app is a big step forward in supporting our residents to recycle as much as they can and waste less.
“A similar version of the app is already used by many other councils with thousands of residents downloading their local version and using it every week.
“When we roll-out the changes to recycling and waste services this June, the app will provide an easy way to track collection day changes. Setting up weekly reminders through the app means residents will never miss bin day again.”
For most North Somerset households, recycling and waste services changes – including three-weekly bin collections – launch in June, with a wider range of recycling materials collected every week, including plastic bags and soft plastic wrapping.

This is one reason I didn’t get my green bin emptied Friday as I wasn’t sent a reminder for applying for this years signing up, so would be helpful.
