Person rescued from fire at property in Yeovil

A PERSON was rescued from a fire at a property near Yeovil.

Firefighters from Yeovil and Sherborne were sent to the scene at just after 2.20am this morning (April 17) after reports people could smell burning.

“Three Fire appliances were sent to a report of smoke and a smell of burning coming from within a domestic property in Yeovil,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.

“On arrival crews gained entry and rescued one adult who was still inside.”

Crews extinguished a fire in the kitchen using two sets of breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, one safety jet
thermal image camera and a smoke clearance fan.

“The person rescued had suffered minor smoke inhalation and was seen by paramedics on scene,” the spokesperson added. “The cause of the fire was accidental.”
