YOUNG footballers in Somerton are donning new kits thanks to sponsorship from a housing firm.
Bloor Homes’ South West office has sponsored Somerton Youth Football Club U10s girls, making a donation towards new kit for the team.
Somerton YFC is home to 17 teams and provides training and competitive opportunities for children aged between five and 15.
Recently awarded the Equal Game Kitemark by Somerset FA and recognised for its commitment to making football accessible to everyone, the club functions to create a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork, respect and fair play among young people in Somerset.
The move comes as Bloor works to develop a range of new two, three and four-bedroom, energy-efficient homes at Somerton Mead, in Maple Drive, under half a mile from the Somerton YFC ground.
Kim Benson, sales director for Bloor Homes South West, said: “We welcome any opportunity to support the local organisations that improve the lives of those living in and around the communities of our developments, especially when their work empowers young people.
“Through our sponsorship of the Somerton YFC Under 10s Girls’ team, Bloor Homes is eager to support the growth of women’s football and contribute to the sport’s momentum ahead of the Women’s Euros this summer.
“Good luck to the girls in the Somerton YFC Under 10s team this season, we’re all behind you.”
Rachel Trott, chair at Somerton YFC, said: “Our Under 10 girls team feel confident wearing their new kits donated by Bloor Homes, with a sense of pride and belonging that comes from support by our local community.
“We are excited to continue to see women’s football grow through the coming season with the continued growth and development of our own girls teams.”
