A 61-YEAR-OLD Taunton woman has pledged to shave her head in solidarity with two friends with medical conditions.
Caroline Martin is set to brave the shave on April 3 to raise money for charity in support of her friends, who are experiencing hair loss due to health conditions.
The inspiring act will raise much-needed funds for the Somerville Heart Foundation (SHF) and Marie Curie.
SHF provides support and advocacy for young people and adults born with a heart condition, while Marie Curie offers care and assistance to those affected by terminal illness.
“I’ve decided to raise money for charity by having my head shaved – going full GI Jane, if you will,” said Caroline.
“Two people I care about are going through the mill and part of that is losing their beautiful hair.
“I can do nothing to help them, but I can stand in solidarity and hopefully raise a chunk of cash in the process.”
She thanked everyone who has contributed so far and also to her hairdresser, Janey at Gemini in Milverton, who is hosting the haircut.
Caroline hopes her fundraising campaign will inspire others to contribute to the causes.
