Your chance to help keep Frome clean at special event

PEOPLE in Frome can do their bit to keep their town tidy at a special event next week.

On March 20, Frome Town Council rangers and staff are joining forces with volunteers and groups as part of the Great British Spring Clean.

Between 9.45am and noon, residents are invited to join them in litter picking, weeding and removing graffiti around the town centre – and to enjoy a free hot drink from the Critchill School van on Boyle Cross to say thank you.

Frome’s spring clean is one of FTC’s three contributions to this year’s Kindness Festival, which runs from March 15 to 22.

Cllr Nick Dove said: “We had over 100 volunteers at last year’s spring clean, collected 30 bags of rubbish and got a lot done in the two hours we were out together.

“A clean, tidy town centre is more pleasant to be in, more inviting to visitors and shows our beautiful town at its best.”

Keep Britain Tidy estimates two million pieces of litter a day are dropped in the UK, with their research showing people feel less safe in littered areas and that it has a detrimental impact on mental health.

“If you can’t join us on March 20, there’s no time limit on this particular act of kindness: if we all devote a bit of time to making the area outside our home or business look better, Frome will always look its best,” Cllr Dove added.

To take part, meet at Boyle Cross at 9.45am on March 20 for a briefing and to collect a hi-vis vest and any equipment needed. You can book online at bit.ly/great-british-spring-clean-25.
