REVISED plans for three new homes in a Somerset village have been submitted – four years after a previous scheme was refused.
Della Valle Architects Ltd, on behalf of Mr Adeney, has applied for permission to develop a half-hectare site south of Barton Road, in Butleigh.
A previous application was rejected in April 2021 due to concerns over phosphate levels and the development being outside the settlement boundary.
However, the new application said phosphate credits had resolved the first issue, while a lack of housing in the area should be considered when deciding the plans.

Fears over hedgerows being lost due to the development are also addressed, with the new plans committing to the “retention of all existing hedgerows” and a net gain in biodiversity.
The three new homes would be single-storey bungalows, the plan said, with details to be decided in a further application.
“The layout of the proposed dwellings would be consistent with similar-sized existing properties in the vicinity providing an appropriate mix of sizes and types,” it said.
“Parking provision is to be situated on site, with external amenity space provided for each dwelling. The position of new dwellings would allow for nearly 30m separation between facing windows of habitable rooms to existing properties on the opposite side of Barton Road.”
It added: “The existing public right of way will be unaffected by the proposal, and has influenced the design process and resultant layout, with additional biodiversity enhancements improving this area of the village.”
The bungalows would be “set into the site” and “consistent with the existing local vernacular”, the application added.
