WORK is underway on a new police ‘enquiry office’ for the town.
Avon & Somerset Police said the new development, at Enterprise House on the Wessex Fields retail park, will provide a ‘public facing front office’ for the police station, which is on the second floor of the same building.
The new Frome Enquiry Office is expected to open in the summer, a force spokesperson said.
“This move would bring the enquiry office into the same building as Frome’s Police Station, which is located on the second floor of Enterprise House but does not currently have a public facing front office,” they said.
Currently, an enquiry office is located at Frome library, and will remain in use until the new office opens.
Chief Inspector Andrew Pritchard said: “Bringing the enquiry office into the same building as the police station will give us better connectivity between our enquiry officers and our neighbourhood policing team, which will in turn improve the service we provide for the public.”
Police presence in Frome will not change and officer numbers and patrols will remain the same, the force said.

not very central is it? a permanent police presence should be in the centre of town. the library is the ideal place.
Police numbers will stay the same! New housing estates, bigger population! Surely police numbers should increase in proportion.
