FIRE crews tackled a large blaze at a former factory site in Chard.
The Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was called to the site of the former Oscar Meyer factory, in Furnham Road, at around 12.40pm.
Two crews from Chard and one from Ilminster were sent to the scene, with residents urged to close doors and windows “due to large amounts of smoke in the area”.
The fire service said the incident was ‘closed’ at just before 3.30pm.
A spokesperson said: “Attending fire crews have used four breathing apparatus, one concentrated air foam jet, two main jets, one safety jet, one gas monitor, positive pressure ventilation and drain mats to extinguish the fire.”
