A CAR was torched in Pilton on New Year’s Day.
Firefighters were called to Totterdown Lane, at Burford Cross, at just after 10pm on January 1 to reports of a vehicle ablaze.
A crew from Shepton Mallet was sent to the scene after the report, from a resident who spotted the fire from their window.
“The car was well alight on our arrival but soon extinguished, by two firefighters in breathing apparatus using a hose reel jet and compressed air foam,” a Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said.
“There was no one on scene with the vehicle, which ended up completely burnt out, so the incident was reported and handed over to the police, where we confirmed the fire had been started deliberately.”
