Plans for Greggs drive-thru and Domino’s at Bridgwater Gateway

A GREGGS drive-thru bakery and a Domino’s restaurant could be built a stone’s throw from the M5 if plans are approved.

Bridgwater Gateway Ltd has submitted plans to build both a Greggs bakery and a Domino’s at the Bridgwater Gateway site, found between Bridgwater and North Petherton off J24 at the M5.

The plans would see the Greggs built adjacent to the already established Costa Coffee drive-thru with the Domino’s built nearby.

An electric vehicle charging facility is also proposed with enough spaces for 16 cars, as well as 46 parking spaces.

Costa Coffee, two hotels, two pubs, a petrol station, industrial units and a farm shop already operate at the site.

Two housing developments totalling 496 homes have also been given the green light to be built northwest of the application site.

Plans have also been submitted to build a Lidl at the site, but this is yet to be determined.

“The proposals aim to provide accommodation to businesses within an established and sustainable employment location, maximising the potential of a vacant plot and demonstrating an efficient use of existing resources,” the plans read.

“This scheme will provide Bridgwater with additional commercial space which it desperately needs, with the benefit of a known end user,” the plans read.

“This scheme will enhance economic growth within the area.”
