VISITORS can get into Weston-super-Mare for the Christmas lights switch-on and the eat:Weston food festival this weekend.
Free bus travel is being offered on a range of services into the town centre, which will be hosting the food festival from 10am, with the lights event getting underway at 5pm on Saturday (November 23).
The eat:Weston festival will run outside at the Italian Gardens, with further stalls inside the Winter Gardens.
Meanwhile, the Christmas lights switch-on starts from 5pm, supported by Weston BID and Weston Town Council.
And to help people get around on the day, a host of bus services will be offering free travel – with commuters able to hop on and off as many times as they like.
Bus services offering free travel in Weston-super-Mare on Saturday are:
- 1 – Sand Bay – WSM (via Kewstoke)
- 5 – Atlantic Road – WSM
- 6 – Worle Retail Park – WSM (via Mead Vale, Upper Bristol Rd, Worle High Street)
- 7 – Worle Retail Park – Locking Parklands (via Milton, WSM Town)
- 9 – West Wick – WSM
- 20 – Burnham – WSM (via Brean, Bleadon, Uphill)
- 125 – Wrington – WSM (via Churchill, Winscombe)
- 126 – Wells – WSM (via Cheddar, Winscombe, Hutton, Bleadon, Uphill).
Cllr Hannah Young, executive member for highways and transport at North Somerset Council, said: “This free travel day is a great opportunity to celebrate a community event and socialise with friends and family, as well as support local businesses. We hope by showcasing the convenience of using a bus, people may look to use the services again in the future.”
The free travel day is part of the council’s campaign with First Bus to encourage more people to use public transport.
